Design and TechnologyAlthough there is a National Park boundary, which can be seen on most maps, there are no gates or fences. The most visible sign of entering a National Park is usually a rail or roadside symbol. In the Peak District this is the traditional millstone as seen here.
Entrances, exits, car parks and major roads leading into the National Park can be found on a typical road atlas or map. Major car parks are available, each being designed to minimise the impact on the landscape. Try these links for more information:
Animatronics, simulations and virtual reality are generally not used. Visitor Centres use video, sound, computer and other media to help interpret the Peak District landscape. However the main purpose of the National Park Authority is to offer the public direct access to the environment rather than a 'virtual' experience. |
