Hay meadows are grasslands that have been farmed for many years
to provide winter feed (hay) for animals. Over time they have developed a diverse
and unique mix of flowers and grasses, which in turn support a variety of insects,
birds and other animals.
In late July and August, hay meadows are at their best, full of stunningly beautiful
wildflowers.
