The National Trust

The National Trust is Britain's largest charity.  It was established in 1895 to preserve 'Places of Historic Interest and Natural Beauty'.  It is now one of the largest landowners in the country and owns over 590,000 acres of land and 550 miles of coastline throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The Peak District National Park Authority

The Peak District National Park Authority is responsible for 555 square miles of some of Britain's best loved and most visited landscape.  The Peak District lies between the cities of Manchester and Sheffield and was the first National Park to be designated in Britain. 

The National Park Authority's aims are:

 to conserve and enhance the landscape, wildlife and cultural heritage of the Peak District
 to promote opportunities for the understanding and enjoyment of the special qualities of the Peak District
