Graham Attridge, Disabled Visitor Access GroupWhat do you think is special about this place? From my point of view it's near to the Sheffield city centre, just 20/30 minutes and you're out in this National Park with all this great countryside around you. What particular elements of the country do you really enjoy most? It's getting close to the wildness, the wilderness here. Even though its renowned for its climbing, it's just nice even if you can't get on the Edge itself, it's just nice to sit in the car watch the climbers, you get the wildlife, the curlews singing in the background now, a bit of everything. From the point of view of disabled access what sort of modifications would you like to see in the future? It would be nice to improve access to the Edge itself, more accessible paths. At the moment there is only one that is reasonably accessible. We recognise its in a sensitive landscape, if you put accessible paths all over the place you are ruining what you have come to see in the first place. Is the Park Authority listening to you?Yes, I think they are. They've moved on a long way, I go around a lot of the National Parks with my work. It's nice to come back to the Peak Park to see how well they are doing compared to other Parks, other Authorities. They are doing well. They are getting there slowly. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - |
