The Hope Valley

We have moved a little bit further down the Hope Valley, where the land is much flatter and the rich fertile soils that exist above the shale rocks provide excellent opportunities for farming.  There are a number of farms here, mostly mixed sheep and dairy farms with land extending from the top of the valley which provides rough pasture for grazing, down into the improved pasture at the bottom of the valley which can be used for silage or hay making to supply winter fodder for the animals.  The richer pasture here also provides lush grass for dairy cattle during the summer months.
