The Countryside Agency was established by the Government in 1999 primarily to conserve and enhance England's countryside.

Tree Warden Scheme

Tree Wardens are volunteers, appointed by parish councils or other community organisations, who gather information about their local trees, get involved in local tree matters and encourage local practical projects to do with trees and woods.  The scheme was founded by the Tree Council and is co-ordinated in partnership with The National Grid Company.

Geographical Association

The purpose of the GA is sharing ideas and learning from each other.  In the beginning, a group of teachers wanted to get together and exchange 'lantern slides' and ideas on how such technology could support teaching.  Today, new technology allows the GA to make a range of material including, e.g. teaching and learning resources, available to a wider audience.
